Verizon LTE - voice call

I have a Samsung S4 on verizon and I am told that there is a lot of static when I am speaking at times - even though I have a strong 4G signal.

I sometimes manually switch to 1x and that seems to improve the voice quality. If I am on 4G on Verizon, does it use a 4G tower for a voice call or are voice calls on a 3G or 1X tower?

Thanks

I would think that if you're having static, its a network issue...

Or..is it when talking to the same person?? Are they on a land line or mobile device?? Have you tried hanging up and calling the person right back??

Are you in the same location when it happens?? Lots of variables..and most point to a network issue to me..

My first step would be to call and submit a trouble ticket.
