i just got the lg vortex from verizon. I want to use a custom sound that I record. on my old phone i had my kids record one for me. i want to do the same or just transfer the file from my old cell. question is once i have the sound i want to use how can i set it as my txt sound?

Copy the sound to your SD card in a folder labeled Notification. Go into your text app to the notification settings and it should be an option.

Yeah, yeah.. I'm on my phone. So?

Actually, you need to create a folder on your SD card named media if there isn't one already made. In the media folder create another folder named Notifications. Copy your media you want to use for the notification to the notifications folder. Unmount your phone from the computer then go into Settings>Sounds>Notification Ringtone, then select your media from there and you should be good to go.

The specific location of the folder doesn't matter. The name of the folder does. A lot of people mirror the structure in \system and place it in:

\media\audio\notifications
