I'm looking for a solution to use my Samsung S4 Mini phone to back-up my photos from my GoPro camera? I can do this using the wireless app but want to know how to do this using a cable connection? Any ideas?

You might be able to use an On The Go cable. I use them for flash drives, hard drives, etc with my Note.

Thanks Ollie. Do I need any app or software to be able to see/read data on my phone?

All I use is a file explorer from the Play Store. The stock explorer works as well, but I like the added functionality of the 3rd party explorers. I use Root Explorer and ES Explorer.

I don't have a GoPro or else I would try it for you.

In theory, if the GoPro mounts as mass storage and doesn't need much in the way of drivers to work on the PC, it should function like a usb drive when connected via an on-the-go cable. However, if the phone doesn't recognize it as mass storage, it'll take more work than that, if it's even possible.
