USB S4 Mini card reader software?

I'm trying to read data from a mini SD Card reader directly into my Samsung S4 phone. Do I need a specific app or software to be able to do this? Any advice gratefully received.

Are you saying that you put the card directly in the slot of the phone that was made for it & would like to view what's on it on the phone?

If so, the s4 should have a file Explorer app. I believe it's simply called "My Files".
