usb problem with cable that came with.

So when i plug the usb cable that came with the bionic into the pc noththing happens..if i try it twice it will charge. No notifications about usb either. Ive tried it on my windows 7 64bit laptop and a vista 32bit desktop. I even tried ly kindle usb that i used with my OG droid.

Any help would be appreciated.....i noticed the first time i turned the phone on it had stock launcher and no blur..that didnt bother me too much its just the usb not neing recognised....after toying with it the past few hours....windows will recognize the phone in all pther booting modes but "normal power up" it says not recognized...so in an attempt to fix that i did multiple factory resets.....aftwards i reactivated the phone and i had blur..but still no usb notification allowing me to select the mode..and the pc refuses to recognise the device...ive installed all end user software and such...i just dont want to take a 38mile drive to get it replaced if i dont have to.
