USB Device Not recognized by PC

Another helpful hint....
I tried to use an after-market USB cable to connect the Droid X to my laptop (Vista Home Premium). I got a 'USB device not decognized' error message. Users... you must apparently use the USB cable which comes with the device and NOT an aftermarket generic cable to connect to a Vista laptop. Otherwise, the PC will probably not recognise it.

I bought this and it works completely fine with my charger and pc. i am running windows 7 however, idk if OS plays a big part in recognizing usb. maybe a defective cable?

My wifes phone did the same thing, a battery pull fixed that problem.

I'm running Windows XP, and I had to download new drivers on the computer Motorola website before I could sync my DroidX with the computer.
