USB Mass Storage Mode

My Droid X2 O'Reilly manual says that by plugging my Droid into a Mac computer USB port I will get a USB trident icon on my menu bar. And, that upon clicking on the trident I will get a menu that includes a choice of Mass Storage Mode. Upon selecting MSM I will get a box on my screen allowing file transfers.

I get no trident. Does Mass Storage Mode exist? How can I access it? Remember this is for a Mac.

Thank you for the guidance.

I connected to Motorola Devices Manager, and downloaded Verizon's Backup Assistant Plus. But after installation, BAP only gets a beachball of death, even after i obtained the necessary Cloud access (Internap). I cannot get help from BAP because of the beachball. My question to you is how can I connect BAP to the now existent Internap cloud (and hopefully get rid of the beachball)? A general idea would help. This is all a mystery to me.

are you using a online language translator?
I don't have a mac
Verizon's backup assistant needs to be installed on phone
I don't know what the beach ball of death is, and I haven't used backup assistant in almost 2 years
