Update version 2.2 for Galaxy S - Fascinate

I never got the update for the sf. Everyone is saying that there its an update that you should get once you get the phone and it is activated... However on settings it shows that I have one there , but when I try to start it never starts up...... What should I do...?

I've been on a droid 2 global with fission rom (basically makes it like a stock android experience by removes moto blur). I'm with in my 30 days and tempted to switch to a Fascinate or drop Verizon all together and go for a nexus s. I will need to pay for my activation fee and also the restocking fee if I decide to return the phone. It could be pretty costly to drop Verizon. The main reason I got the DG2 was because of the keyboard but I think I can live w/o. Even with the Fission rom I still notice lag while scrolling through the menus and noticed it was a lot smoother on the Fascinate.

If you could answer a couple of questions that would be great. I'm sorry if my questions are noobish, but I am new to smart phones:

Is there any rom's out for the Fascinate that will make the phone a stock android like the Droid Fission rom or Nexus S?

After reading a couple of reviews I heard the Fascinate battery takes longer to charge but also lasts a lot longer. In order to make it over 24 hours on my D2G I need to disable pretty much all applications including background data. How long are you usually getting in terms of battery time? Are you using a battery saving configuration or on max performance?

What are the GPS issues with the Galaxy S phones and have they been fixed?

Besides lack of updates from Sasmung to android 2.2 / 2.3, are there any other issues with the phone that I should be concerned about ?

Everyone has asking the question "When will they release the 2.2 update going all the way back to Sept. Every month they seem to hint at next month. Well maybe next month.

@Eddie, i think you hit the nail on the head. Ive posted when i heard it was going to out and that was from a reliable tv source over 2 months ago, and its not here yet. How about when someone gets the first update, post what it is, when you get it.

so the 2.2 update for Telus Samsung Fascinate came out today. any chance we can get that ported to our Verizon Fascinate? that would be SWEET!

I just seen that right now. The update just popped out of no where for them, or maybe not I didnt read anything about it. But really though, I think that should mean that USA Fascinate should be getting it pretty damn soon, I mean really now.

Too many questions.. the GPS takes a bit longer on select ones to lock on. Battery life for me lasts a day and a half with a launcher and non root and all bloatware is frozen. Also the nexus s is bare minimum for the Galaxy models and less of a camera but the feel is amazing. Dj05 is a recent root fix towards all issues and de-bing-able roots are available too. Other than that updates are coming soon.

On another note, I heard it was the ota dj05 for Christmas.

8pened!

That update for the telus fascinate is 2.2 but you guys gotta remember they are on the gsm network completely different then us.
