Ended up taking the update. Didn't want to -- finally started to believe all the doom-and-gloom at xda that it might hamper root when 4.3 arrives...BUT...htcdm.apk (the update app) was running full time and preventing sleep, as I kept shrugging off the update reminder. Oh well.
I received an update on my Droid Maxx. Does anyone know what it is for? I am still at 4.4.4. I haven't seen any chatter about it. It took a while to d/l so I assume it was a large file.
That updates adds Verizon's VoLTE calling capability to the Droid Maxx. I don't have access to the Verizon FAQ right now...but you can find them if you search for Verizon VoLTE. You have to enable it in your account (at Verizon's website) before you can turn it on inside your phone. And then you have to reconfigure your Voice Mail because standard voice mail I not compatible with VoLTE...you have to use Visual Voice Mail basic with VoLTE. VoLTE and Basic Visual Voice Mail are both free account change options. But rumor has it Verizon is not allowing it to be added right now...because there are some issues reported from Maxx users. My battery sucks with VoLTE turned on!
