When trying to flash from 893 to the 902 update it fails at the verifying current system step... I get

"assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/BooksPhone.apk". "f50a23588051f9e0d8c06f7411016fa9c360e7a6"."e085b2e8b03396bfa9f836a82f7e7b649cfed682")
E:Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I am rooted with forever root and i received .893 ota, i have all of the factory bloatware still and its all unfrozen, no custom roms or anything. Already tried a factory reset with no luck... any ideas?

Did you get your problem fixed? If you did could you please tell me what you did? I am in the same exact position as you sir. TIA

I would believe you have to be 901 to receive 902, as 901 is the official one out currently.

Nope, i have no idea what do to.

I don't think so. 901 was never officially released.. it was leaked to a few people but never released ota. However i have also tried flashing to 901 and get the same error.

I think the error means that the md5 checksum for BooksPhone.apk does not match the expected checksum. Did you alter or replace BooksPhone.apk? I don't know what it does.

Maybe your Google Books app file is corrupted. if thats what Books Phone is anyway. I checked my root directory and don't see a file with this name

Edit: I just rechecked my system root and do see the file you are having issue with. you can replace with clean copy if rooted and someone has a .893 .apk copy for you, might work

If you have Titanium Backup, you can goto the Backup/Restore tab and hit Books 1.5.2(1502), then Restore if you have a previous copy backed up. I would try that first, perhaps the .902 attempt corrupted the file.

I have seen others that tried to use the market app to replace a potential bad file and don't think it works. Not sure if your MD5 is actually listed in the error or not, if so, it doesn't match my file- a064f4143892b5e1856f23d0c11b7a66(.902), maybe someone else can confirm that. Otherwise, I could upload a copy of my file to dropbox for you to pull and replace via app like Root Explorer.

Edited: Since I was already probing around in my system folder anyway, here is copy of my .apk if you do need it:

Awesome, i will give that a try as soon as i get home. Thank you for the help!

Also, if you are not able to restore with TiBu as I noted but decide to use the Books .apk I provided, you should rename your file to have .bak on the end(not .apk). You should change it back to .apk and delete the file I provided if it doesn't help to prevent any further trouble shooting issues!

Just wondering will the update come to a device that is not on a wireless plan? Over wifi of coarse!

That's a good question, I wouldn't think so since your not connected to the network that would supply update. Manual update works just fine in most cases without much effort.

Now that I look. I have my verizon mobile installed... ??? wth?

I'm getting same error message on my .893 rooted bionic. only difference is it's "My verizon" instead of "booksphone" Thinking back I may have frozen, then deleted the file and backup via TiBu. :frown:

My Verizon .apk

Since you deleted it all together, you may have to reinstall though

Thank you. I noticed I have my verizon mobile on my phone however, its not in the correct path ( system/app/myverizon.apk) as the error message is barking. lol moving it now.
