Unsubscribe from E-mail Threads

How do I unsubscribe from being notified everytime someone comments or replies to me on a thread? I tried the message at the bottom of my e-mail...but am still getting streams of messages into my inbox. I normally get 3 E-mails a day, but already have had over 10 in the past 4 hours. Is there a way to stop this?

You'll want to go to the top right of this page under your name and hit settings. Then on the left of that page hit general settings and change the default thread subscription mode from instant.
