Unlocking / Sim cards

I've never unlocked a phone before but I'm considering it with this phone.. I travel to Costa Rica alot and they now have 3G.. Does anybody know if I unlock this phone will I be able to use a Kolbi sim card from Costa Rica and use this phone ??

I currently use a vintage Motorola Razr quad band unlocked and a Kolbi card and it works fine..??

Is Kolbi GSM or CDMA based?

If CDMA it may be possible, but my gut tells me it would take quite a few tweaks.

Yes it's GSM and also they are phasing out TDMA but it's still there...

If it's a CDMA phone on a GSm network then there's nothing you can do.

There is a GSM version of the gnex, but it's not sold in the US.

Thanks... I thought so because verizon phones have always had over seas issues.. I guess I'll let it locked and keep using my Razr in Costa...

It's actually a blessing because when I'm down ther I just want to relax and forget about everything my smart phones represent.. !!
