Unbelievably Fast Battery Drain

Hi. I've looked through several threads about battery drain and still can't find an answer that fits my problem. My Droid x2 began showing signs of fast battery drain for a few weeks, so I bought a new battery today. The problem persists except now, my charge goes from 100% to 7% in 38 minutes. I have tried rebooting, and sometimes when I do, the indicator shows I have 40% instead of the 7% it was showing before I rebooted. I checked usage and as usual, the display and idle were using most of the charge. I downloaded an app to track CPU in real time and deleted all apps that might have been hoarding power. None of that helped. So I finally did a factory reset. That hasn't worked, and in fact, the problem is quickly getting worse. As I speak, I'm typing this with the phone hooked up to the charger. Is it time for a new phone, or is there something else I haven't tried? Oh by the way, I have also turned off background data and roaming. Ran several antivirus scans -- all clear.

I'm far from an expert but here goes.
I would think that if your phone is actually draining the battery that quickly it would get very hot, dangerously so.
That heat would also cause damage to the battery.
The other possibility might be the phone 'thinks" the battery is discharged when it's not.
There are many threads here on "battery training" but basically you discharge, turn the phone off, charge fully, turn on and discharge again, turn off and charge again.
One other thing to try is to wipe system cache.
Good luck.

Thanks so much. I'll try that battery training.

My phone doesn't get hot, weirdly. And, it doesn't discharge quickly if I leave it on standby. It's only when the display is active that it drains.

I would do what moset said. If that doesn't work then it could be a hardware issue.

Maybe try cleaning the contacts of the battery and the contact points of the phone. If you google how to clean it there are proper ways to clean it. Iirc, I think people used a q-tip with a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol on it, but I am not 100% sure.
