Unable to update apps

I have an original Droid with Froyo OS which is rooted. I've been able to update apps in the past, but the last few weeks many apps such as ROM Manager, Motor Trend News, Weather bug, etc. keep giving me update unsuccessful messages. Anyone else have this issue or have a reason why this might be?
