I've been running ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop for months now. So much smoother but it does make phone hacking a pain.

I'm on an old laptop that is sluggish. Android sdk and eclipse don't run properly so I have to use a less intensive program ( terminal) and SBF_ FLASH to do my work.I've been running ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop for months now. So much smoother but it does make phone hacking a pain.

im confused with this comment... it should make phone hacking ALOT easier using linux instead of windows... at least this is my case. i do all my android customization and theming using debian.
to the OP's question Ubuntu is nice for the beginner that really doesn't know Linux at all. I dont really care for it as its too bloated with extra crap. After the install i spend hours removing the extra crap they package with it. I prefer a Debian base install with no GUI or anything then i can install exactly what i want.
openSuse is a good easy distro , Slackware based, then Fedora or Debin , steeper learning curve on them.yeah I meant, ubuntu. not real sure what happened there. I have vista on my computer, i hate it. Its slow and laggy, and terrible. I don't want to fork out the hundred something bucks for windows 7, so I'm left with ubuntu? Or is there something better thats free?
