Txt msgs gone!

I just lost a boat load of txt messages... went to send one and all were gone! Is there a max? And no I don't back up my parents, any suggestions or are they lost forever?

Same thing happened to me on sunday (5/15). Pulled the phone out to answer a text and they were all there. A few hours later everything but the very last text was gone. Really bummed about it. Is anyone else having a problem like this?

Happened to my GF the other day. Don't know why. Was not checked to delete the messages after a certain number of messages.
