One of the budget smartphone heavyweights of the summer is now better than ever. You can now flash a custom recovery to your Idol 3. This makes doing things like making a full backup of your device, flashing custom firmware, and rooting super simple. Your device will need an unlocked bootloader in order for this to work. Once you have your bootloader unlocked you will flash the recovery image via fastboot. You can then flash the root.zip file from within recovery if you choose to.
