I really want this to be my twitter app but I have one problem with it. How do I search for people? I can't find it anywhere.

I have had this same issue. Its the only reason I hang on to the official Twitter app. Tweetdeck is the best UI but its only flaw is not being able to search for new people to follow.

Seriously, its the third button at the bottom of the screen from the main view.
There is the post button, the friends button, search button, and map. What you are looking for is the search function.
