Turn off autosubscribe to threads?

There must be a way to turn off auto subscribe to threads that you post in....? Really don't like getting all the emails and don't like having to manually unsubscribe all the time. Am I just missing the setting in the user cp?

User CP > Edit Options > Messaging & Notification > Default Thread Subscription Mode

Set to "Do Not Subscribe"
