Turn off 3G when not in a WiFi environment?

Ok folks, this one's got me stumped. Been using my Xoom WiFi only for 2 months and broke down and signed up. I downloaded a WiFi/3G toggle switch and worked great until I was not in a WiFi environment and didn't have anywhere to toggle to. If I jump off the browser and work offline, but still show I am on the 3G network, am I incurring data charges still? Thank you.

Thought about it. A little extreme. I ended up downloading a 3G toggle from the market. Works OK. Alot easier than navigating a few menus. It just seems like a step backwards for people used to having VZ Access Manager. Thanks for the reply.
