Trying to make the jump from Ultimate Droid...

I have heard wonderful things about Koush's ROM, and R1Lover speaks very highly of it, so I decided to make the change today. I love the 5-apps-per-row Launcher. One thing I can't figure out though, when I try to restore apps using titanium backup, they don't show up. I tried fixing permissions in ROM Manager, and 81 items get fixed, but they still don't show. If I try to restore once again, the wallpaper changes, and the "home" button below the screen stops working. Am I doing something wrong?

You may need to just bite the bullet and do a fresh install, without your app backups. The "base" of UD and CyanogenMod are so different, that I would highly recommend this, as things may go really wrong otherwise.

Thank you so much for the personal reply, Koush. I think I can handle that. Besides, it looks like you've set it up so that all my paid apps automatically get downloaded. So go ahead and use ROM Manager to download and install, choose to wipe, and let it do its thing?

Yes a clean wipe is what I would do also... and yes, once you sign into google your apps will sync as well.... so much nicer then having to do them one by one.

After you get it setup.. do a good backup and save it.. then you can play around with other things and always have once to restore too.

I will have my theme up tonight for cyanogen too... :)

Nice R1...Are you going to theme using the vendor overlay? Also, will you be posting this theme here or CyanogenMod?

The vendor overlay themeing will come later... Koush is working on getting this option on his ROM.... once he does that then it will be as mentioned in his other thread.

I can't wait for that to happen... it's going to be so nice to be able to keep your theme between roms.

For now it will be available two ways... as a complete ROM and also as an update.zip installable via sprecovery or clockworkmod.

I will post it here, mydroidworld.com and also cyanogenmod.com

If I wanted to test this out w/ Nextheme, do you recommend installing the Cyan 5.0.5.7 base and then installing the NexTheme 2.0 (theme only, right?) via ROM Manager?

OK, so what's the best approach if I have all my apps on /sd-ext? I really shouldn't need to wipe data since there is nothing there right? (UDv10 -> 5.0.5.7)

I loaded this just to check it out briefly, but restored UD. I wiped to have a clean install, but apps2sd comes with 5.0.5.7, so all your apps will just be there.

If you guys need help just post up.... it's really pretty painless.... as far as the apps, if you have your card partitioned already... it should be all set.

thinking about doing the same, anyone coming from 9.8 UD notice a difference going to koushs rom?

I have no hard numbers to support my thoughts, but from my "seat of the pants" experience I saw a noticeable difference in battery life when switching over to Cyan. Stability was also a plus moving from 9.8 to Cyan's latest. Plus, Cyan has features that 9.8 just doesn't have...well, until UD themed Cyan's latest calling it 10.0.

All in all I think you will be happy with the switch, I sure was.
