I am going to lay very good odds that's an application icon or the icon for a service that he's subscribed to such as a news thread or social networking. I can't find it but I'll keep looking.

Actually, it's not my phone. I have been Googling apps for weeks with no result. I was hoping that someone who had a Galaxy would know what it was... I will try to check the app manager.
