Trying to avoid any pitfalls with OTA 4.5.608

I apologize for being overly-cautious, but I want to make sure that the info is RSDLite looks correct. Here's what is showing for Device Properties (my phone) and File Properties (the 33 SBF file):

Ok so the SBF supposedly finished 100%. But now my phone has a nice blue triangle in the status bar where it used to say 3G. Did some research and rebooted into recovery and wiped data/factory reset and wiped cache. Also will prolly *228 to re-activate. So, did the SBF work? What's the dealio with the blue triangle? While going through the settings on the phone I noticed a considerable slowdown in performance, so I'm guessing the SBF worked, just not sure it worked well. Going to re-activate right now since the factory reset is done. Going to try OTA after that.
Still seeing the blue triangle though, which scares me. Haven't seen that before, even after I did factory reset yesterday...
EDIT: Phone re-activation after factory reset got rid of the blue triangle...FYI to anyone else watching in anticipation
Now will try the OTA again. Is there anyway to verify the SBF worked? The "status" column in RSDLite said "please manually power up this phone" when it was done, even though the phone was already powered on. Does this indicate a success? Thanks all!!!!!!!!!!

I see I was too slow in responding! Yes, the blue triangle is the roaming indicator and comes back when the phone is SBF'd, as the phone is no longer activated. The fact that you got this suggests that the SBF worked.

If you have what appears to be a out of the box stock phone than it worked. If you just want to see if root is gone you can 1) enter "su" into a terminal emulator or download root checker from the market.

Thanks for the tip. It does appear to be in a stock state, although the wallpaper is the same as what I had it set to before, so that makes me wonder. But everything else looks stock. Downloading the OTA again now. Will post back in another hour or so (download takes for-ever!)

The wallpaper is stored in /data, not in /system, and flashing an SBF doesn't format /data, as far as I remember.
do the DROID2WE_X6_2.4.29_FULL.sbf. That one is the one I have saved and have used several times. Then update to 2.4.330 via OTA. (settings>about phone>check for updates)
After the OTA to .330 you'll be prompted to update again to 4.5.608. It WILL WORK THIS TIME!
Just so you know its a big file that takes for friggin ever to download but good news is you'll only have to do it once this time.
I've had it for the past week and just sbf'd back to 2.2 running HeXen 1.0.1. (missed HeXen and HATE the verizon crapware)
Speaking of which, if any of you didn't know, YOU CAN FLASH BACK TO 2.2 (froyo) FROM 2.3.3 (gb) using rsdlite 4.9 :biggrin:.

Why? Use the .33 one to go to .330 without the need for an OTA update. As I said in my earlier post, the only reason I know for using the .29 SBF is if you need to stay on that for the DroidBandUnlock hack.

Um, yes! See all the threads on people with .606 or messed up .607s trying to get .608....
I said sbf to .29 because I haven't tried the .330 sbf lol. (saw some posts on other forums saying the checksums didn't match during flashing). my thinking is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." I personally don't mind the additional 15 minutes to OTA to .330 but like you were saying.. its kind of a waste of time.
so just to be clear.. the .33 sbf file is good to go and i can bypass updating from .29?
and honestly i did extensive googling to try to find out if you could flash back to 2.2 from 2.3.3 and found NOTHING.. so i just went for it and was so happy to see my phone boot up after flashing back that i had to post my "findings" lol.

Yes, the .330 file is fine. I have used it many times.
