transparent landscape keyboard?

anyway to make the keyboard in landscape transparent so more 2/3 of the screen is not covered? It's especially annoying when I'm chatting in gtalk and i cant see the chat exchange in landscape mode. thanks

I always use my physical keyboard on my D1 for chatting because of this. Annoying how it takes up so much room...
