touch screen stopped working

So, my wife's D4 decided to stop working. It will power on and off, but the touch screen won't work. How to bypass?

If its not rooted I'd say verizon

It's rooted, but that can easily be fixed with a factory reset. However, I'd like to save all her data beforehand.

A factory reset won't unroot, you have to remove the su app and binaries, which are on /system

Went to Verizon wireless, used their lapdock to run tibu before they put their hands on it. It worked pretty well.factory test brought back the touchscreen.... For less than a minute. As soon ai footy back to the car the screen was nonfunctional again. Subsequent resets have not worked either, hardware issue.VZW is now going to send her a refurbished replacement for her two month old phone, and she is livid. she uses it for work and needs it faster than five days and they are charging us for overnight shipping.
