touch screen locks up

i've been having an issue were my screen becomes unresponsive for a good 30 seconds .. randomly ..(touching the screen wont be responsive)

wondering if others also have this issue

the phone isn't frozen. if I slide the keyboard open and close it ..it seems to fix it .. I just can't figure out why or what's causing it.

I have the phone rooted but I can't see that being an issue

I have had similar experiences, typically it is an application in the background that is performing some intensive operation. Downloads, etc. Since I have turned off Background data sync, I have not noticed a repeat.
