Touch Screen Help!!

Can someone tell why my motorola droid (first gen.) keeps acting as if though someone is touching the screen? I can't even get past my pass code log in because it is acting as if though someone is pushing the numbers. any help is appreciated. Thanks.

first off could you try a battery pull then reboot?

Have you bought or started using very cheap wall chargers? the cheap chargers sometimes operate so poorly that it messes with the phone. Otherwise I cant think of anything, hopefully the digitizer isnt broken

Yes, I have tried to turn off and reboot, and that only seems to make it worse. It actually speeds up the touching effect and makes it impossible to unlock my phone. I can't even dial out. I am still using my original charger. I wanted to ask what the digitizer was? If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. Thanks again.
