I'm kinda disappointed. I was excited at the rumors of them bringing out the Miles Morales storyline. I'm not a comics guy at all. I didn't know Miles existed, except that I thought I'd heard something once about Peter Parker not being the "only" Spiderman.
Many comments that I've seen on other sites about this story reflect my own opinion. I really don't want to see another reboot of the series. I mean, sure, Marvel will run the show, so MAYBE it'll be on par with their other cinematic offerings. But I just don't know that I'm excited at all for this one. I was very excited for the first Tobey Maguire (sp?) one, and I watched the latest reboot, but only at home and well after they had come and gone in the theaters.
I hope they can do something fresh enough without introducing Miles or another character, but I won't hold out hope just yet.

The Miles Morales Spider-man is going toe be the main Spider-man story for the Marvel comics.
I understand why they are doing the Peter Parker Spider-man. Before you can start introducing other Spider-men they need to get the main Spider-man story right first and then build upon it. As the main stream only know of one Spider-man. Now what could work would be introduce the main Peter Parker Spider-man and get a strong story that could be used to propel the Miles Morales Spider-man. Then Marvel could use the Miles Morales Spider-man, since they are focusing their comics going forward around him any way, and Sony can keep the Peter Parker Spider-man and bring us a better storyline that introduces iconic villains like Venom, Carnage, Vulture, and some of his other rouge gallery. I parallel it to how Chris Nolan used Ra's AL Ghul to set up the new Batman universe and introduce us to his version of Batman and then when he brought in the Joker they were able to focus the story on him and what Batman had to become to stop him. The Dark Knight Returns was a strong story because the universe was already established.
Valid points. I just think the last 2 versions were too close together. Look at how long we went without a new Batman movie before Nolan's work came out. IMO, a reboot works better if the last one isn't still fresh in my mind.
Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'll definitely watch trailers and such and will rent it for home viewing if nothing else. Just, like I said before, not as excited about the idea as I was with the first incarnation and I glossed over the latest reboots, mostly because it was too soon in my mind.

True. I was hoping they just stuck with Andrew Garfield so we would not have to go through yet another reboot. But I am guessing Marvel and Sony are wanting to distance themselves from that. Though I would argue that the problem with the AS2 was they tried to rush into a cinematic universe verses taking their time and developing their characters (particularly the villains), and that I felt Andrew Garfield was actually a good Spider-man. The question that Marvel and Sony had was could they salvage the universe or was it too far gone and it seems they felt it was the latter.
Agreed on Garfield being a good fit. As reluctant as I was to watch those movies and as much as I don't have any inclination to watch them again, it had nothing to do with any of the casting really.
Agreed, I enjoyed Andrew Garfield's take on the role, and the world-building they were doing had my attention.
I saw Tom Holland in "The Impossible" and he did an impressive job for what must have been a demanding role for a child actor...but this is a different scenario and I have no idea whether he'll do a good job, any more than I'd be comfortable saying whether Jake Lloyd could have played a good adult Anakin based on his performance in TPM.

Definitely shouldn't put the miles story in. I would of also preferred Garfield as the Spidey but let's see what they do with this high school version. At least he will be part of the marvel world which helps us comic readers
