Time for a new Android...but which?!?!

Well, my screen cracked on my Droid 1 (I stepped on it with a hockey skate on).

Took it to my independent VZW dealer and Found out I get my upgrade. With a free 100% protection plan ($100 value) since I decided not to use it on my Droid 1's cracked screen.

Now I just can't figure out which Android to get. I will NOT go over to the evilness that is APPLE.

I've decided on probably: Motorola Droid 3, Moto Droid X2, Droid Bionic, or LG Revolution.

The thing is, I hear that the unlimited data plans is going away July 8...one day after the supposed D3 release. Now I feel rushed!

I use(d) for Droid1 mainly for texting (a lot). A decent amount of internet usage but not over-board. I like to upload music/videos from my CPU to my phone for long trips to my cabin (and the NETFLIX app(. That's really about it.

I guess ya'll would know more than me on what phone fits my usage since some of you may know the phones better than I do in my preliminary studies. I've been suggested the Revo and X2 as probably two of the best but I want a wider opinion base.

Any ideas on which of the 4 I should be taking a hard look at?

Anything helps!

Only two phones are out anyway. You will not lose your unlimited data plan on July 8th. You will be grandfathered in per Verizon. Don't get in a rush. Got to the store and play with all the phones. If you can't deal with the cracked screen, use your insurance and get what they send you. Then you can upgrade to the phone you want when you want. Plus you could sell the replacement phone and put the cash towards the new one.

BTW, I just got a DInc2 and I love it. Root is only days away and I got it from wirefly.com for $49. I hear its free now.

Nope. Paperwork from Verizon states very clearly that existing customers can renew unlimited data even when doing an upgrade.

Oh that's great news!

So knowing that and time not being an issue. Which phone (released or not released) should I be looking at?

All of them. Go to the stores and play with as many as you can get your hands on. I personally don't like the X line of phones because of how large they are, same with the thunderbolt. I played around with the Incredible 2 for 5 minutes and fell in love with it. It's all about what you want out of the phone. Don't get caught up in the hype of "you should wait because the next biggest/latest/greatest phone is just around the corner". It's always just around the corner. Look around on here and see what phones people are complaining about and which ones people are raving about. Take all the advice with a grain of salt because one person will hate a phone and another will love it. You did good picking a Motorola Droid last time right? Have fun and try going to a couple different stores as well. One store might not have a phone that the other does. Good luck!

I think Firefighter gave you some real good advice. The best way to find the phone you want is to give them a test drive.
For the record, I'm in the market for a new phone as well, and I just tested them all out a couple days ago. Of the ones you mentioned, I liked the LG Revo the best. I actually liked that phone best of the 4G phones, and if you put a gun to my head and made me get a phone today, I would go with that one.

That being said, I'm going to wait on the Bionic. I know there is always a new and better phone on the way, but it really sounds like it has the whole package. Just depends on if your willing to wait a month... or two.....

Good luck!

I'd still make the decision for myself. It's just nice to have other peoples' input especially if they're more familiar with the phones than you are.

I was thinking 3 until I heard there won't be 4G. I'm hearing good things about the bionic as well with a potential July 14 release date.

It's always a hard decision when buying a new Smartphone.
