Yeah I read that too. I think the S4 sales were low because so many people already had the S3 and were under contract! They release these phones so frequently that most people usually upgrade every to every other phone. Except people like me that must always have the latest and greatest model!

I thought s4 hit sales records the first month. Guess it wasn't meeting their projected estimates. Considering it's not a real significant upgrade over the s3 I can see why, but that's the business model they're following and should be expecting.
Makes me wonder if we'll see a Note 4 a few months after....

I thought everyone and their sister got either an S4 or Note2 over the last several months? It put Apple in "oh crap mode" back in the spring I thought.
That's how I feel about my S3. It still works great and I haven't felt the need to upgrade to an S4. I'll skip the S4 and get an S5 off ebay once the prices go down.
I seriously doubt we'll see the S5 in January - that's too soon, even if the S4 isn't selling quite as well as expected. Rolling out a new phone is incredibly expensive for the advertising, training, and other ramp-up so they won't want to do it quite yet. I'd suspect closer to May/June. Suppose it's possible that if the S5 is ready and so incredibly better than the latest from Apple and HTC then they may prove me wrong here. Back to the question of S4 sales - I'd also suspect that sales have also been hurt by Verizon dumping the unlimited data plans. I know two guys that wanted to upgrade but wouldn't since they'd lose unlimited. One managed to upgrade a couple of weekends ago when the glitch on the VZW site allowed him to retain unlimited while upgrading. I've got an S4 and will probably move up to the Note 4 or S6.
