It should be no surprise that Display Mate's best phone display of all time would beat Apple's latest "Super Retina Display". The 5.8" panel of the iPhone X has a resolution of 2436x1125 but the brightness is a mere 625 nits. The Note 8 comparatively can reach a brightness of up to 1,000 nits in direct sunlight when auto brightness is enable. Limiting the brightness of the screen may be a way that Apple makes their new iPhone X a bit more power efficient. Apple did claim that the new device gets 2 hours of battery life more than last year's iPhone 7. Apple gets their display's from Samsung. Maybe Samsung is saving the better panels for themselves.
