Texts not deleting completely

I am having an issue where after I send and/or receive a message and I delete the thread, the contact is still there with a blank message send on December 31, 1969 at 6:00 pm. I have spoken to Verizon and Motorola about this issue and neither have provided a solution. These are the things I did:
1) Cleared the cache on the app
2) Deleted the text app Go SMS
3) Soft reset
4) Cleared cache from phone
5) Replaced the SIM card

Any other ideas other than a factory reset?

I believe other people were having this exact same problem earlier this month... one sec.
