Can't delete text message threads.

I can't delete my text threads. If I do "select all" and delete them, the messages delete, but the threads stay there. I can't delete them individually either. And they all have the date "December 31, 1969". Some of my pictures have also changed to this date.

I've tried starting my phone in safe mode to delete the text threads.
I've deleted go sms.
Cleared data from stock messenger.
Soft reset.
I've downloaded handcent sms and they don't show up there and I can delete threads there, but they still show up in stock messaging app.

Nothing works. I'm getting so aggravated. Thanks in advance.

I have a Droid Razr Maxx, not rooted.

*update. I downloaded history eraser and used that, followed by a soft reset and that got rid of them. Some of my pictures still say December 1969 but I'm not too worried about that, slightly annoying but not as annoying as text threads not deleting*

I had this problem and for some reason this app was the only one (that I tried anyway) that deleted the thread titles and fake dates, along with the texts themselves... no idea why, maybe it just digs a tad deeper. Just FWIW
