Texting help!

Im texting a friend that has a black berry when i send her faces like " :), :( (suppose to be text format ) " they get smileys and sht like " :), :icon_eek: ". How come my droid 2 doesnt make faces>?

Might just not be in the native app? I use handcent and it shows the basic smileys.

If you push the menu button when composing a message there should be an option for smileys but it basically just types them as :-)

On droid to theres a button for smileys and in the option it shows the faces but when send them to another droid they dont get the animation... and when someone sends me ( ex: blackberry to droid ) them i dont get them.

Do u guys get wat im saying?

and i tryed wat u said no luck

I totally understand what you're saying. I don't have any droid phones in the room with me or I'd test it now but I know my gf and I send each other the kissey face (:-*) and it shows up as the android face with the kissey lips on her phone, which is a g1

It sends them as the text, but it all depends on how the app handles them. Handcent automatically converts them to an icon, and some other phones do as well. It's all in the setup and the app, not with what you are doing.

I think the Blur text messaging app doesn't convert them to the graphics. I used to get them on my old G1, but now on my D2 they don't show up except for the actual text.

You sir are correct. I forgot that I was using google mms (which is the same on a g1) and not blur mms. Just switched back to blur for a moment and it was a no go.

Yeah, I didn't really care because I don't make smilies with noses 99.99999% of the time anyways, nor do the people I text with, so the graphics, while nifty, were pretty much useless (and I like the conversation style in the blurmms still, I'm sure it'll grow old eventually but for now it's still "new" to me hehe)
