Text to Google Voice?

I get voicemail and calls no problem (using my 406 GV #) but I'm not receiving text messages sent to that same number from callers. Is it a setting or ?

can anyone tell me if my GV # should or should not receive text to the GV # directly?

Sent myself a text from my wifes phone to my Google # for ya. Didn't receive it yet and it's been an hour.

Sounds like it should work???
