Text Notifications Question??

I'm just getting into this new Motorola DROID. I'm loving it, but I have a small list of features that I miss from my old phone and I'm hoping maybe a few of you caught something I missed.

My issue is simple. When I get a text message, the notification sound and vibrate go off, but as with my old phone, I don't always hear the sound or feel the vibrate when the message first arrives on my phone.

On my old phone the sound notification for text messages would keep playing and vibrating ever 2 minutes until I read the text. Usually within 10 min of the text I'd hear it, and then read it. Now I'm finding that if I don't hear the first notification, then I might not check my phone for a few hours, only to realize that I've been neglecting texts.

Is there any way to keep the audible notifications playing until I acknowledge the message?

Looks like there are a few apps in the market place... so.. yes, indeed, there is an app for that.
