text messaging working space is too small

is it just my set up or does everyone have the issue where the working space (the actual message window) is way too small, meaning that you have to scroll through the message your writing while there is empty space above the message window while in portrait orientation. go sms has the same issue.

The latest version of Handcent SMS has a larger text entry field that you can access from the bottom of the chat window.
