Text messages sent to wrong person

Recently I have replied to a text message and another of contacts received it. I checked repeatedly to see if I accidentally added them to the address bar. I was using the Handcent app but double checked it on the stock app as well. How does this happen and how do I fix it?

Process of elimination. Use the stock messaging app. I've seen other ppl have problems with handcent app. Try that 1st and see if that's the issue.
