Text messages add periods between words

My new Droid has begun adding periods between most words in an SMS. Other times, it's perfectly fine -- and that is not consistent, so I can't figure out what the pattern is, unfortuntately.

I use predictive text, but that doesn't seem to have much to do with it that I can tell. Here's why I think that:

A message will end up looking like this sometimes: "Let.me.know.how.it.goes."

When I try to type the same message again later, in what I think is the exact same way, it will show up as: "Let me know how it goes."

Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone have any solutions?

I know that hitting a spacebar two consecutive times is a "shortcut" to adding a space, but I'm not doing that. Thanks, though, ConqSoft.

Any other help?

Predictive text plus the spacebar can lead to double-spaces, and thus, commas. If you're typing out a word and use the predictive text entry, it automatically spaces, so if you were to hit the spacebar again, it'd give you the two-space period requirement, without you thinking you made two spaces.

But then the first letter of each word would be capitalized and that's not what he showed.

I have encountered this a handful of times as well. I assumed I was accidentally hitting the period key instead of the space bar.

I'll pay more attention next time and see if it is me or the phone.
