Text message timestamps

I have my phone off during the night and when I'm at work. So when I turn it back on I sometimes get a couple text messages right away. But the timestamp on these messages is the time that I received them (the time i turned the phone on), not the time they were sent.

How can I get it to show the time the message was sent, not the time I received the message?

Is this a problem with verizon or with the droid? Theres gotta be a way to fix this.
