Text Message Emoticon Question

Greetings
I have a new Razr Maxx HD running JB 4.1.2 and using the OEM text message app. I get a Weatherbug text every morning with the three day weather forecast. It always shows a emoticon for the letter P in Partly Cloudy. (see screenshot below) Is there any way to disable the emoticons from displaying in text messages? BTW, I have performed the RTFM and consulted with Google but both came up empty. THANKS!

LOL, that sucks! But funny as hell! No way to get rid of it.

I have a droid charge. under weatherbug there are preferences I have severe alerts and live conditions turned off. I have a maxx hd but can't use it due an on going battle with ebay.
