Tethering question

Wired tether works via usb for me. I use with my laptop all the time.

Yes, but the OP is asking about the IPad, not a laptop. I know someone who connects their laptop to their DROID via USB and uses PDAnet. He then uses Connectify to share the Internet from his laptop to his IPad. A bit roundabout, but...

I just connected my iPod touch via bluetooth but the online connection was a lot slower than mobile hotspot.

How did you accomplish this? I have a jail broken iPod touch with ibluever and I have pdanet app on my Droid razor. When I try to make the connection it says I need to configure my device, now I think that is my phone. It asked for the apn on the iPod side to make the connection with no luck. Please let me know how you did this.

Jake.

All I did was go into general settings and turn bluetooth on and then pair it to my bionic. Works just fine. I have an older touch but running 5.0.

BT tethering works!

This is pretty amazing. I just got my Droid Razr on Verizon and have been going a bit nuts trying to figure out the best was to root it so I can get wifi tethering going. Then I found this post and tried it. It works. All I had to do was pair my Razr with my ipad2 via bluetooth and, voila, I can access the internet on my ipad. No settings to mess with. No rooting. It just works. Too simple. Probably not as fast as using a wifi connection, but sure a lot easier and do not have to mess with rooting at all.
Thanks!!!....Arniep

Does the ipad have bluetooth? I tether my droid to my transformer tablet via bluetooth.

I have an iPad 2 and tether this way with my Bionic. No apps or rooting required, just pair and that's it.

Glad that this worked for you with the RAZR, and thanks for posting. I have been thinking about upgrading to the RAZR, but this functionality is a must for me. I have the Bionic, and it works great (when my 3G doesn't drop). I have tried this with the Rezound, and didn't have any success. I'm not sure if this is exclusive to Motorola Android devices or not.

In 4G areas the speed is limited to 3G like speeds, but as long as it's free and I don't have to mod my phone, I'm good with it.

I tried this with my Bionic and an iPad2. It works, I guess. I have 4G in my area and the Bluetooth tether only gets speedtest results on the ipad2 of about 500kbps, and almost no upload. I figured I wouldn't get 4G, but this is dialup speeds, not really that awesome unless you're in a pinch...

I've noticed that it can vary for me. At times I can get right at 1 MB down, and can stream with little buffer. It's not the best solution, but it's better than any paid tethering features for those who wish to remain stock.

Does this only work with the ipad2? My wife has an original ipad, and I have a Bionic. I would try it out right now, but she took it to work and I won't get access to try this for 2 days.
