Tether Droid with ROM

I'm wondering if there is a way to tether on the phone's data for free. As in, is there a ROM or hack that makes it so Verizon sees the data as phone data and think you're browsing on your phone when it's really tethered instead. I know it costs about 15$ or 30$ to tether, but who wants to pay that? So I just want to know if there is a way around the extra cost via hack or ROM.

Just tether don't go crazy with more then 10th gb a month and you will be fine

Wireless tether is an app for root that does it. There's a few other also if you look in the market.
