If it's just an apk file all you have to do is find it in your Astro file manager (make sure you mount your SD card first by clicking on the notification and choosing mount)...probably located on your SD card (I make a folder called APK for all apps)...then simply click the file. It will ask if you want to open it, and then you hit install and it will tell you that you need to enable third party apps or something, click yes, then install it.Is anyone such a novice that they can't even figure out how to set up swype. I can download it but once it's on Astro I have no idea how to unzip a file, then where to go from there. Embarrassing, but I'm humbly asking if anyone will enlighten me on the steps?
Don't get me wrong, I am a swype fan,but I am just so fast on stock, looking at suggested word speed me up too.
Also tapping out doesn't always save word, as I have had to tap out words multiple times
To save the word.... tap out the word you want... then when that word is on the top of the suggestion box, press the space bar (don't click on the word itself). This should store that word in SwypeDon't get me wrong, I am a swype fan,but I am just so fast on stock, looking at suggested word speed me up too.

ya ive noticed that too, pretty annoying, it seems to keep forgetting my password, dont really have trouble with anything else though (and yes i typed the pwd into a normal text entry box first)
presuming they will fix this as we are still using beta software
The thing is, you might not get to use the final version. The version out now is a "leak" and the application isn't meant for public distribution, which is why you have to manually install it and it isn't on the marketplace (nor will it ever, according to what I've read).Im curious to see what the final release of Swype will look like. Once installed, it's hard to think about typing using any other method...
Swype is pushing for OEM distribution. Matt's right... I wouldn't plan on seeing it in the MarketThe thing is, you might not get to use the final version. I'm just throwing out made up numbers here.... but let's say the developers of Swype make a deal for 5 million dollars that their Swype will release on all HTC (again made up) phones.seems kind of silly.. i mean i understand pushing oem dist, but even with that why wouldnt they want to offer it to the market? i suppose the oem could push an exclusive deal ;/ in which case i may be buying a new phone elol
