Hi, welcome to the Droid World! I went from a Blackberry Storm1 of 2 years and before that it was Treos and Palms. I loved the droid platform! I'm not sure there is anything hard or difficult about the switch. The only thing MAYBE I'd say is that it's soooo easy to use, but there are SOOOO many more bells and whistles on the Droid that it can be overwhelming.
Did I mention the apps!?!? There are sooo many more apps to choose from because most are third party apps. I have loads of apps, and haven't paid for one yet - so many great apps are free!
Also, Verizon has free classes - I'd go to one of them!
Profiles on the BB. I wouldn't stick with the BB for them though. The advantages on the Android side of the fence far outweigh the disadvantages IMO. Keep in mind that YMMV. Not all ex-BB users are identical.
For most people, I'd guess that ditching the BB mentality (OCD management of resources, feeling the urge to pull the battery, assuming that Android works the same, etc) are probably the biggest typical obstacles to overcome.
