Swapping d1 to d2.

If I swap to a d2 and give wife my d1. Do I have to unroot my d1? Or can they just swap over the info through the CPU? And could I just /also swap we cards from the d1 to the d2 so I don't lose Apps? I have titanium back up pro. Could that be useful?
