stuck with 2.1 and unable to send messages

I had rooted my droid inc when I first got it, i got tired of seeing the update but the update would not install. the phone came with 2.2 installed. It rooted fine and functioned proplerly except the update issue. I decided to unroot the phone but I overlooked the fact I was rooting the phone back to 2.1. Now Im stuck with a phone I can not send messages on.

What I would like to know if there is someway I can get back to 2.2 and if someone would be kind enough to guide me. I'd just simplly like to have my phone back to stock 2.2

Easy peasy.

If on a Windows PC you can run the RUU or you can flash through hboot like you did to unroot.

I think I have tried the flash through hboot that I found on this forum and there were some errors installing it. I will try the ruu way and let you know.

It tells me the RUU can not connect with my android phone. I would choose mount as disk drive when I plug my usb cable in correct?

You need HTC sync installed to run the RUU. Instructions are in the post Doug linked you to.
