droid no boot

Sorry for the long post. Droid newb. feeling like a dork.

So I got the droid today in the mail. Charged it up and turned it on. Tried to plug usb into computer. Failed to find drivers. I find the motorola drivers and load them. reboot computer. Then took sd card out to move some files to card. When I put battery back on, phone would not boot. I tried to "power on" phone while plugged in to wall adapter. It would come on to a black screen with a white M (motorola icon). The just sit there. I tried under PC USB and it went to a screen with:

Bootloader
2C.5C

Battery OK
OK to Program
Transfer Mode:
USB

then tried a battery reset. ...M
have also tried X- Vol+ - Camera reset. .... M

Super bummed. Thanks for help in advance.

So i charged it all night on wall charger. Still stuck on the M icon. I did finally get it to boot. Then it froze up. pulled the battery and I am back at square 1. Verizon is sending another (refurb) but I'm wondering what the heck is happening to this one.

Not sure what happened here, but this series of responses has NOTHING to do with the topic of "STUCK IN USB TRANSFER MODE"... what happened?
