Stuck at white htc screen

So I'm stuck at the white htc screen whenever I try to boot but I can get onto recovery. However when I'm in recovery and I try to flash a new rom or restore to a backup I get rejected because the txt says failed to mount data. Is there a way to fix this and install a new rom?

update: my DI is still stuck at the white htc screen. i went into clockwork wiped cache, format data, format cache, factory reset, and then i try to restore a backup and get the same problem over and over again.
