Strange app install issue

I've had this happen with the official Market as well as with the Amazon App Store.

I'll download/update an app, and when it is being installed I'll get an error that says that I don't ahve enough space on my phone, and I should delete some apps to make room.

I have around 900 meg left in the app area...anyone else run into this?

I occasionally have this problem. It seems like there is just so much cache space dedicated to downloads, and the cache is not fully (or cleared at all) when the download is complete and the app installed.

I find if I reboot the phone, this cache gets cleared out and I can download again.

I have since rooted the Droid 3 and installed "CacheMate for Root" which will also clean up this cache.

Good Luck,
Bob

You know, I keep reading all these 'we should expect our tech devices to be buggier than a garbage truck on a hot day' articles, and I just don't agree with them. For the money that we spend on these devices, they should all be as smooth as silk.
